President's Message

January 4, 2012

Hello CFAEP Members,

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and safe holiday season. It is a new year and many see better things for our economy. Some of our members are seeing positive changes in amount of activity in the environmental consulting and land development industry. I have heard contractors talk of positive expectations for 2012. “Cautious optimism” has been the catch phrase in recent times. I hope each of you is experiencing this positive outlook and are preparing to take advantage of any opportunities that come your way. Part of being “prepared” for opportunities is expanding your knowledge base and understanding industry trends. I believe that this is one of the reasons you joined CFAEP. The goals of this organization include providing opportunities for you to gain knowledge and understand emerging issues in different environmental fields. We do through presentations at our general membership meetings, workshops, and other events. I hope you will continue to participate and take advantage of what CFAEP has to offer.

To “kick-off” the New Year, we are proud to announce the launch of our new website at www.cfaep.org. This is the same address as we have always had but the site has been completely redesigned to enhance its aesthetic appeal and function. The site provides a lot of useful information, including meeting schedules, contacts, and links to other web-based environmental information. Please check it out at your earliest convenience. There are several CFAEP events that are coming up that will provide excellent social and networking opportunities and education. A schedule of these events and additional information is available on our website’s “Meetings” page.

Our next meeting is at 11:30 AM on January 19, 2012 at Crave Restaurant, 4158 Conroy Road (Next to Mall at Millenia) Orlando, FL 32839. Our guest speaker will be Diane Picket of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Ms. Picket will be providing a presentation on Low Site Score Initiative (LSSI) (e.g., HB Petroleum Contamination Site Cleanup - Florida Legislature, Nov. 16, 2010).

Thank you,

John Lesman
President, CFAEP
